Originally was planning to go see Guardians Vol. 3 or Fast X tonight.
Instead? Put 3 more hours into Zelda.

Finally got to dig into Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. A few hours in, it’s doing a great job of making me feel like a massive idiot, followed by a super genius…then back to idiot. GOTY.
Gonna go ahead and wade into The Discourse™ for a hot minute: The running time of a movie means absolutely fuck all and should not be something to be excited about or dreaded over. Only matters if you’re trying to schedule other things around it.
Though I’ve not yet been able to start Tears of the Kingdom, seeing all of the videos of wild in-game creations across social media has absolutely given me life this weekend. Shine on, you crazy diamonds.
And that’s roll credits on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Just now caught up to Scream (2022) – had a lot of fun with it.
That said, I’d like Radio Silence to get back in the swing of more originals like Ready or Not, ASAP.
Noticed that people don’t seem to be talking up Yellowjackets as much this season. I’ve yet to start it – still worth it?
Looking forward to catching up with my dude Paul this Fall. www.youtube.com/watch
With the Summer Movie Season arriving this weekend, I am again reminded how much I miss things like music videos for songs from movies soundtracks, or massive fast-food promotions. They made each movie feel like an event.

Pretty sure this week’s BOB’S BURGERS was Kaiju Big Battel inspired?
Got an obvious spam email for internet services for an upcoming con SAF is a part of. How did I know it was spam? For some reason, it was addressed to “John Fake”.
It’s Disney vs. Florida: WHOEVER WINS – WE LOSE.
Sometimes, folks, it’s a strategic meal of Five Guys that you need to sand down all the rough edges of life.
I feel like Cocaine Bear could’ve gone harder in either direction of comedy or horror, but it’s a movie that knows exactly what it is, without being too winky or cloying. Had a fun time. Alden Ehrenreich redeemed.
Anyone else having issues downloading apps from the Mac App Store this morning? Or just me?
Genuinely exciting news for the future of the Open Web: Automattic has acquired the plug-in “ActivityPub for WordPress” and hired its developer as well.
For those who don’t know what this means, it means we’re closer to WordPress blogs being something you can follow on ActivityPub using sites – like Mastodon, Micro.blog, and even Tumblr (soon).
So cool to see Everything Everywhere All At Once practically sweep the Oscars last night. That said, if you haven’t, I highly recommend watching Daniels' first film, the surreal and incredible Swiss Army Man. It’s up now on HBO Max.
At that phase in having sinus issues where I just want to eat a giant plate of Buffalo Wings to get things moving.
So many of me and my friend’s interests are colliding on this one: Daniels (directors of Everything Everywhere All At Once) have put together a photoshoot of Jennifer Coolidge for W Magazine…that is a giant Tokusatsu homage.
Digging through an archive of my Last.fm account, I dug up a great song/band I’ve not listened to in ages. Here’s a Casket Lottery side project, Jackie Carol, with their song “No Fiction”.
A history of the Pizza Hut/X-Men promotion?! THIS is why I pay for SKTCHD!
This headline reads as if Square is looking to make a Final Fantasy game designed specifically for me, Marty Day.
I have to say, using a smartphone or a computer with your eyes dilated is a hell of a ride.
But on the good side of things: eyes are healthy, and my prescription just has to eek up a smidge. New glasses in two weeks.
Whatever allows movie theaters to stay in business, I guess.
